Snowboarding / Ski in UTAH?

Im about to go Snowboarding in Utah in a couple of months. Do you have to use car chains on I-80 to get from SLC to resorts. I heard somewhere its either that or a 4weel drive. But do sometimes the Utah DOT require chains in this section...i believe its called "parleys canyon"?
