Hypothetical funeral question?

Ok-Completely hypothetical question I thought up while stoned one day and I havent been able to get a good answer. Say you are involved in a car accident that results in the death of a penger(s) in another car...would you be expected to attend the funeral of the deceased (to express you condolence and say your sorry to family etc) or should you not attend (as it may offend people bc U were to blame)??? Cant seem to get it off my brain...any ideas??
