My pitt bull is 2 years old. She gets destructive when she is left alone. Should we get her a companion?

She is a 30lb dog, and very calm and loveable when I am around. When I leave her at home alone, she becomes very destructive. The vet told me that she has seperation anxiety. I wanted to know if getting her a companion would help? If so, what type of dog would be best?
