My mare has a gait or pace and wanting to know if any way to get her out of it?

I have a buckskin mare that is a four year old. We have trail rode her since she was two and she is a great horse to own. Any one in the world can ride her she is so easy going. My boyfriend has a half brother and we signed him up for 4-H this year with the mare. We figured it would be fun for all of us due to the time they have not spent together because of a broken family. But anyhow I want my mare to do her best for him while showing at fair. She will show in the paint cl, but is a solid buckskin. She has a pace or a gait not for sure what you would really call it people say both so I don't really know. I do know that her mommy ped it on to her. Her mom was a paint they used her for contesting and a broodmare. Any how enough rambling on. Is there any way to get her to come out of this it just don't look right to me and I like I said I want her to look good for Matthew. Im afraid that the judge will knock her because of this although she is a good looking girl well in my opinion. Hopefully some one has to helpful information for me.
