My Necchi silvia maximatic 586 sewing machine turning in reverse direction?

this sewing machine is about thirty years old, worked very rarely,kept aside for nearly five years.now it is cleaned and oiled,problem is the machine motor runs in reverse direction,please help me correct it.lloyd perera.
