Reasons why I hit my 3 wood further than my driver?

Equipment is..Nike Sumo driver 10.5 stiff flex Nike SQ 3 wood 15 degree..im thinking shorter length of the 3 wood allows more control and less spin left and right off the club face. Ive been toppin alot of drives with my driver and rarely hit it as strait as my 3 wood.
