What is the Warsaw Pact and what countries did it consist of?

It was the Soviet Union's response/equivalent to NATO. Besides the USSR it included East Germany (German Democratic Republic), Poland, Czechoslovakia, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, and briefly in 1948 Yugoslavia.
